A blue butterfly on the center of a Sunsflower.
A 3 inch spiderin spinning a web in the Bayou.
A Honey Bee gathering nectar from a purple Colorado Thistle. Thistles are common along Colorado Rocky Mountain trails and I saw this be completing his quest for nectar just before I got to Crystal Lake. Many people consider thistles “weeds” but I really love them and their unique form, color and texture.
Exploring the meadows next to Cucharas Creek in Southern Colorado, i came across a butterfly collecting it’s fill of nectar. He was quietly doing his work and his wings were contrasted against these white flowers. I watched him for quite some time wondering how predators didn’t snag him up from the white flowers. I guess he was safe with so many flowers and so few predators.
