A near full moon was rising into the sky while I was on the top of South Table Mountain outside of Golden, Colorado. I captured it right above the one of huge power line towers that cross the mesa.
Joshua Trees as Moon Rises over Desert Mountains
I spent a fun couple of winter's nights in Joshua Tree National Natural Landmark outside St. George Utah. The evenings were cool and the stars and clouds made for some good night photography. The Joshua Trees really come alive when lighted by the moon or a flashlight. I spent a few hours every night shooting the landscape and stars. I really adore nights in the southwestern deserts.

Moonset on Square Top Mountain
We witnessed the moonset on our hike up to the summit of Square Top Mountain near Guanella Pass in the Rockies of Colorado. It is very rewarding to see the moon set on the Rocky Ridges above 13,000 feet. Definitely motivates the adventurous explorer to bag the peak.
Teig the "TrailDog "
I wanted to introduce my favorite model/assistant/friend. Teig is a 5 year old labradoodle who lives, works and accompanies me on my adventures. He never complains and is very eager to explore and photographic new places. He also models for me in many of the locations we visit and his wage is just a few treats, which is extremely affordable as models go. Being attractive and very camera friendly makes him so easy to work with and loves to take "Frisbee" breaks in between shots which makes most shoots very enjoyable. Here is Teig in Wild Rivers National Monument on the Rio Grande in Northern New Mexico. As you can plainly see, he is a natural with his pose and his facial control is spectacular. I have never worked with a better and more professional model.
