Teig photobombing a landscape shot of Alpine Fireweeds next to the road at Boreas Pass above Breck in Colorado. I was setting up this nice evening shot of these purple flowers and Teig just walks up into the frame. I didn't really mind and I think he helps the composition. I would always put him in my landscape photographs but I am sure people are already overwhelmed with Teig in most of my photos.
Sunny Morning at Mount Guyot
A bright sunny morning with Alpine Sunflowers at Mount Guyot. A nice view to start sauntering to Glacier Peak in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado.
Colorado Mines Peak above Berthoud Pass
Summer hiking to Mount Flora in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado affords enthusiasts fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. You rise above Colorado Mines Peak with its Electronic Site and radio towers to see Red Mountain and Jones Pass in the distance. This is a very popular trail because it allows the hikers such fantastic views.
Rogers Pass Trail to James Peak
Summertime saunter up to James Peak in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. This route is up the west side to Rogers Pass and then up the north face of the peak. The trail can be seen to the pass.
Traildog Thru Pass in the Valley of Fire
Teig was coming through a V-notch over a small pass in some gnarled rocks in the Valley of Fire. We were sauntering south of White Dome in an area which had only a couple of hikers. This area was one of our favorites because no one was around.
Bald Mountain at Boreas Pass
Boreas Pass is a high mountain pass at an elevation of 11,481ft above sea level, running through the Colorado Rocky Mountains at the crest of the Front Range. The road over the pass, formerly known as Breckenridge Pass, is now named Boreas Pass Road. This route was used by prospectors during the gold rush that were crossing from South Park in search of gold in the Blue valley around Breckenridge. At the summit is a mountain hut known as Ken's Cabin, built in the 1860's.
Black Powder Pass Colorado
Black Powder Pass sits above Boreas Pass near Breckenridge Colorado. You must hike to get to this pass from either the French Creek from the north or from Boreas Pass on the south. Either way, you will be treated with gorgeous Rocky Mountain views on all sides.
Snowy Range Pass in Late Summer
The Snowy Range Scenic Byway (pass) is the second highest mountain pass in Wyoming. The Snowy Range Scenic Byway (Wyoming Highway 130) is located in southeast Wyoming and was originally a wagon road built in the 1870s. The road was paved in the 1930s and designated as the nation’s second Scenic Byway in 1988. After six years of working on the road, it was completed and known as the “Great Skyroad.” The Scenic Byway over the Snowy Range is one of the shortest of Wyoming’s scenic byways, both in length and in the number of months it can be driven.
Traildog Resting at Geneva Mountain Pond
Teig found a nice snow patch to get cooled off on our hike up to Geneva Mountain near Guanella Pass. We adore our alpine hikes and can’t wait for the snow to recede and get up above the tree line. I believe this environment is the best for hiking. It affords us fantastic views of the peaks and valleys and fills our souls.
Teig and Mount Bierstadt
Teig and I were sauntering up to Square Top Lakes above Guanella Pass when I got this portrait of him with Mount Bierstadt in the background. Bierstadt is one of the 14ers in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. There were only a few hikers going up Bierstadt on this day because it was the first day the road to the pass was open after spring.
Barren Tree at Apex Pass
There are many unique details that you can find while exploring in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. I was intrigued by this long dead tree near the tree-line that had a very cool texture with the white capped Rocky Mountain peaks in the background. We are so very blessed to be able to get up to these remote places to experience this.
Windy Gap Pass New Mexico
Windy Gap Pass was the first pass we crossed on our 4x4 tour crossing the Sangre De Cristo Mountains in northern New Mexico. This pass is on the way to the beautiful Valle Vidal which is the vast valley on the opposite side of Windy Gap. You can see the wonderful fall colors in the mountains in the distance that stand above the valley. Teig and I prefer traveling on the back dirt roads when touring the southwest.
Mount Guyot in August
A look back to Mount Guyot on a hike to Whale Peak in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. Guyot is one of my favorite peaks and his very distinguishable from its east and south faces. Definitely a Colorado Rockies Icon. This photo was taken on an Iphone 7 I had on me for that hike.
Traildog on the Ridges near Whale Peak
Teig and I love hiking the Rocky Mountain highlands in the Front Range Mountains west of Denver. There are locations where you don’t run into a single other soul on a hike. This was one of those days when we hiked to Whale Peak in late summer.
French Pass in July
Above Breckenridge Colorado sits a beautiful mountain pass that is joy to hike to… French Pass. This pass sites between the mammoth peaks of Guyot and Bald Mountain. In July there is still snowfields at the pass which are cool playground for dogs and hikers. We are looking towards the french creek creek and the valley to the east of the pass.
Shake It Off on South Peak
Spending time exploring South Peak above Twin Lakes in central Colorado. We found small ponds left from snow melt, not uncommon for alpine elevations above 12,000 feet. Teig enjoyed a quick dip before continuing with our hike on these beautiful ridges.
Glimpse of Cuchara Valley
Hiking down from West Spanish Peak in the San Isabel National Forest, I found a clear spot through the forest to the Cuchara Valley below. We had just came out of a large thunderstorm and I could see one down in the valley below. This section of the Southern Colorado Rockies is very lush and green. The hiking here is fantastic.

Sunset At Cordova Pass
A beautiful sunset Cordova Pass near West Spanish Peak. This section of the San Isabel National Forest in Colorado is unique in that it sits on the border of New Mexico. You can see the vast plains to the east and other mountain ranges north, south and west. This sunset occurred between storms that covered the region for a few days. This increased the beauty of the sunset and was a wonder to witness.

Traildog in Mountain Fog
Teig and I were exploring the tree line below Kingston Peak in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. The low clouds were moving up the slope to us and soon engulfed the ridge in it’s cool mist. The experience was calm and pleasant. I do love changes in weather when you are hiking in the mountains.

Labradoodle in Sea of Yellow Alpine Flowers
Teig found a meadow of yellow Aspen Sunflower Flowers just off the trail to French Pass in the Colorado Rockies. Aspen Sunflower is a member of the Sunflower Family. The plant typically grows in meadows and clearings in pine forests at elevations between 5000 - 10000 feet. Teig blends in with this meadow and was almost ready to take snooze in the sunflowers.
