The De-Na-Zin Wilderness in northwest New Mexico is a fantastic location to get away from civilization. The desert is so unique here on the Navajo Reservation. The sun was near setting on this evening in late autumn. Teig and I had hiked all day in the canyons seen below and were now enjoying the evening with a beer in hand a no other soul for miles. This was heaven on earth!
Cruising on the White Sands of New Mexico
A beautiful evening on the White Sands National Monument in southern New Mexico. What a perfect location for a traildog during late fall. The western sunset is awesome in the southwest.

In Monument Valley
We were exploring Monument Valley’s floor one evening in the winter when I took this photo. This a a great time of year to saunter the high Colorado Plateau when the afternoons are cool and great for hiking. This Navajo Tribal Park is so beautiful and the landscape will inspire every photographer!
Teig on John Ford's Point
One of the most iconic places in America. Teig is standing on John Ford’s Point in Monument Valley. Some of the best westerns of all time had landscape shots from this very point. John Ford was one of my favorite directors and they named this location after him.
Doorway to History in Alamo Canyon
This is the abandoned historic house in Alamo Canyon set in the Ajo Range in southern Arizona. There is a great trail to this location and is one of the gems in the Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument. I really love sauntering in this region during the mid winter months.
Utah Salt Flat near Graham Peak
Salt flats are everywhere near the Great Salt Lake in Utah. We were exploring the region west of the lake and came across this huge deposit near the Nevada border. The Bonneville Salt Flats is just over the mountains in the background.

Sometimes you just need to relax when you are out playing on a salt flat in West Utah. Teig was enjoying the spring afternoon at a large salt flat near the village of Lucin near the Nevada border.
The Cross in the Desert
I went to the Monastery of Christ in the Desert. This benedictine monastic grounds is near Abiquiu, New Mexico which has a Abbey on the banks of the Chama River. I walked and meditated at this monastery and sauntered through the grounds. The scenery and extreme quiet was very appealing to me. This cross was below the large cliffs that arise above this compound.
Green Arroyos in Badlands
Badlands National Park in South Dakota has some green areas. One of those areas is in the arroyos in between the hills in the park. This vast badlands is broken by the lush green areas in these low lying locations that gather moisture and rain from the hills.
