Teig was resting on a rocky outcrop on North Table Mountain outside of Golden Colorado. I saw him sitting there a day after snow came through the area and had to capture this photo.
Speed on the Trail Snow
Teig loves to run along the trail when we are exploring the Front Range in Colorado. He is running to me on Travois Trail on Centennial Cone near Golden. We spend many of our winter weekend days sauntering these trails.
Traildog Fun on Snow Day”
Teig had a fantastic afternoon playing in the snow at Belmar Park in Lakewood Colorado. I had some fun too.
Teig on the Snowy Trail at North Table Mountain
Trails are snow packed on North Table Mountain much of the time in January. Teig loves the snow and cool conditions on a sunny day in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. Not to many hikers and the crisp cool landscape is great for exploring!
Mutual Respect
When traversing the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, we inevitably will cross the path of some open range cattle. Teig does get a bit excited when he sees cows who notice him. On this day we were above Buena Vista and there were quite a few of them on the ridges feeding. This cow and her calf watched as we approached. Teig barked once then just stared at her and her calf. They pondered each other for a couple of minutes and then Teig continued on… I guess there was mutual respect and no further contact was required.
Traildog Waiting on North Table Mountain
Patience is one of Teig’s greatest strengths. He spends an enormous amount of time on the trail waiting for me as I capture photographs of our adventures and the wonderful landscapes we travel across. He is here patiently waiting for me on North Table Mountain in the middle of January… calmly watching me as I was getting a panorama of the Front Range and Golden Colorado. I love him for that!
Traildog in the Snowy Grass
Teig really enjoys the snow storms in the Front Range foothills of Colorado. I can’t help taking portraits of him in the snow. As a photographer, I can’t help creating images of subjects I love.
Cruising on the White Sands of New Mexico
A beautiful evening on the White Sands National Monument in southern New Mexico. What a perfect location for a traildog during late fall. The western sunset is awesome in the southwest.
Traildog in the Rio Grande Gorge
Teig and I hiked down Chiflo Trail down into the Rio Grande Gorge in New Mexico. It was fun hike to reach the river at the bottom of the chasm. Exploring the rock formations and the river were so very cool. I love and miss my birth state!
Teig Resting below Jicarita Peak
On our hike up to Jacarita Peak, we had a short layover on the trail above Serpent Lake. The views were amazing on this jaunt up the Sangre de Cristos in northern New Mexico. The aspen leaves were turning to their autumn orange and gold. It was not a bad place to rest and take in the colors.
Waiting on a Bench in Taos NM
Teig was resting on a bench outside the Kit Carson Museum in Taos New Mexico. It was beautiful evening with the rain falling and we were under a street awning watching and listening to sounds of the storm. There was no one out and about and we were quite content to relax on the bench the museum provided.
Calm in the Snow Storm
Out on the trail on Green Mountain during an early snow storm. We love having trails near Denver we can explore when weather comes in. Teig love being out in the storms and loves frolicking in the snow.
Traildog on South Table Mountain at Dusk
Teig and I love to hikes on South Table Mountain outside of Golden Colorado after work. The large mesa is a place close to metro Denver but has a quaint wilderness feel when out exploring near dark. Teig is shown here near one of the promontories on the north side of the open space.
Traildog Scouting for Trout at Crater Lakes
What do you do when you bushwhack over a Colorado mountain and end up at Crater Lakes? Well I take a load off and rest but Teig goes on a Trout scouting mission to find the rising fish in the beautiful mountain lake. Can’t blame him… it is fun to see the big ones feed on bugs at the surface.
Bridge over Joe Wright Creek
Teig and I were trekking up to Blue Lake in the Never Summer Mountains of northern Colorado when we crossed this bridge over Joe Wright Creek. The day was perfect for a hike and the morning was nice a crisp. Teig had to stop and check out the views from the footbridge.
Shake it off in the Colorado Creek
Teig shaking off some of the icy cool water after a long drink in the creek on our way up to Blue Lake in the Never Summer Mountains of Colorado. Nothing better than a refreshing gulp of that pure Rocky Mountain stream water!
Just Chillin Off the Trail
Teig on a long hike to Blue Lake in the Never Summer Mountains of northern Colorado. When you get a chance to relax in the shade off of the trail you take it. A little down time on a 10 mile saunter in the Rockies is good for the body and soul.
Traildog Exploring Browns Lake
Teig needs some cooling off and play time after hiking and reaching Brown’s Lake in the Never Summer Mountains of Colorado.
Rolling in the Snow on Whale Peak
When we find snow fields while hiking in the high Colorado Rockies, it is required for Teig to play and roll around on them. He LOVES this! We found this one on Whale Peak near Georgia Pass. Stoic Mount Guyot is in the background.
Resting on Whale Peak
What do you do when you bag a Colorado peak. Rest, take in the views, have a drink and maybe a quick nap!
