How about resting in an alpine meadow off the Continental Divide in the Colorado Rockies? Well Teig was doing just that on a hike to Skyscrapper Peak. This does relax the soul.
James Peak and the Alpine Lake
Teig checking out the snow and James Peak Lake from a ridge in Colorado's James Peak Wilderness. We hiked Kingston Peak on this day and enjoyed the early summer conditions with the snow covering much of the alpine terrain.
Paws in Bear Creek
Teig cooling off in one of the beautiful creeks in the Mount Evans Wilderness in the Colorado Rockies. What is better than an icy Colorado creek to refresh a hiker and his pup… not much! It is a great time to capture a moment with my camera and enjoy nature with my traildog.
Standing in Browns Lake
Teig resting his paws in Browns Lake high in the Cache La Poudre Wilderness north of Rocky Mountain National Park. Trekking back to this lake from the valley below was worth the hike. The gorgeous cirque with alpine ridges sits above the lake and is not overly visited by hikers. I would consider this location a nice place in the Colorado Rockies to get away from the crowds. It is approximately a 4.5 mile hike in to reach the lake.
Wet Weather Confronts Traildog at Lake
Stormy spring day hiking at Gross Reservoir in the Front Range of Colorado. Teig was soaked but having a blast playing in the sand a rocks around the lake and no other folks around.
Resting on a Colorado Plateau
My Colorado Traildog resting on a flat rock overlooking the backcountry of western Colorado. We love our state and thoroughly enjoy exploring the unsettled areas far removed from civilization.
Teig Sauntering in High Grass
Happy Birthday Teig!!! I love my best photography model and assistant!
Traildog Teig trotting through the high grass in Pike National Forest in the Front Range mountains of Colorado.
Teig in Cave at Valley of Fire State Park
Teig was hanging out in a small cave as I was shooting landscape photographs in the backcountry of Valley of Fire State Park in Nevada. I love how patient my boy can be as I am working.
Teig at Treasure Creek
The San Juan Range in Southwest Colorado is some of the most beautiful mountains in the continental United states. They are remote, wild and rugged. For those reasons Teig and I love to saunter into them. We were on Treasure Creek when I took this photo of Teig.
Snow Play on Strawberry Jack Trail
There is always time to play in the snow while you are sauntering about in the Rocky Mountains. Teig found his moment on Strawberry Jack Trail near Pine, Colorado to get a good roll in the snow on the trail. He makes me laugh out loud when he goes this.
Winter Profile on North Table Mountain
Sometimes a simple photo out on trail captures the essence of a soul.
Teig is Enjoying the Snow
The joy of being a Colorado Traildog on a snow covered Colorado trail.
Morning Breeze in Death Valley
On our last morning in Death valley National Park we sauntered around the salt flat near Badwater which is the lowest point in North America at -282 feet below sea level. The winds were kicking up pretty good and Teig had his fur flowing with the breeze. It was very quiet on this morning and we were on the west side of the valley which only has a rough dirt road with hardly any tourists.
Resting on Green Mountain
Winter snow days on Green Mountain in Golden Colorado are the best. Teig loves hikes in the snow and bluebird days are especially fun for both of us. Can you see Tieg smiling? I definitely can!
Calm Traildog on North Table Mountain
Teig was resting on a rocky outcrop on North Table Mountain outside of Golden Colorado. I saw him sitting there a day after snow came through the area and had to capture this photo.
Speed on the Trail Snow
Teig loves to run along the trail when we are exploring the Front Range in Colorado. He is running to me on Travois Trail on Centennial Cone near Golden. We spend many of our winter weekend days sauntering these trails.
Traildog Fun on Snow Day”
Teig had a fantastic afternoon playing in the snow at Belmar Park in Lakewood Colorado. I had some fun too.
Teig on the Snowy Trail at North Table Mountain
Trails are snow packed on North Table Mountain much of the time in January. Teig loves the snow and cool conditions on a sunny day in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. Not to many hikers and the crisp cool landscape is great for exploring!
The Chase in the Sangre De Cristo Range”
Teig was off and in chase of a Pronghorn Antelope near McCrystal Creek in the Sangre De Cristo Range of northern New Mexico. Teig is an old dog but still has some speed in the short races but in this one he had no chance to even come close to this beautiful antelope. Although, it was good exercise for my old dog.
Mutual Respect
When traversing the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, we inevitably will cross the path of some open range cattle. Teig does get a bit excited when he sees cows who notice him. On this day we were above Buena Vista and there were quite a few of them on the ridges feeding. This cow and her calf watched as we approached. Teig barked once then just stared at her and her calf. They pondered each other for a couple of minutes and then Teig continued on… I guess there was mutual respect and no further contact was required.
