Many of the plants next to Bear Creek in Colorado freeze in winter. These branches look fascinating with the thick ice and light shining through them.
Castlewood Canyon Winter Stairs
Stairs leading up to the rim from the bottom of Castlewood Canyon in Colorado. The steps were snow packed from hiker traffic and in the chilly afternoon shade.
Winter's Light on Front Range Foothills
Beautiful setting sun light on the foothills near Chatfield State Park in southern Denver. A winter’s chill in the crisp air but the warm sun felt good before night falls on Colorado.
Memorial Day Snow on Red Mountain
Memorial Day snow hit the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. It was a beautiful sight to see the snow on Red Peak near Berthoud Pass. Puts a big smile on my face.
Golden Footbridge Holiday Lights
The city of Golden Colorado lights up Clear Creek Trail for the holidays and this is the footbridge with beautiful lights. Fog was moving into the valley before the snowstorm.

An October snow storm came through Golden last night and we decided to take a jaunt on South Table Mountain for lunch and it was a great time and a good hike.

Raven in Winter above Redrocks”
Teig and I were exploring Mount Falcon outside of Morrison Colorado during a snowstorm when I captured this shot looking back to Redrocks Amphitheater. The raven in the tree was so interesting and I think he makes the composition.
Redrocks Road in a Snowstorm
Redrocks Park and Amphitheater during a good snowstorm that hit the Front Range. The red rocks look cool contrasting with the snow.
Snow Play on Strawberry Jack Trail
There is always time to play in the snow while you are sauntering about in the Rocky Mountains. Teig found his moment on Strawberry Jack Trail near Pine, Colorado to get a good roll in the snow on the trail. He makes me laugh out loud when he goes this.
Deep Snow on Mount Falcon
A big snowstorm hit Denver and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains leading to this beautiful winter landscape on Mount Falcon. Teig and I spent the afternoon exploring this mountain in the awesome silence that comes to the forest in a huge snowstorm.
Winter on South Boulder Creek
I really enjoyed exploring the winter conditions at Walker Ranch in the Front Range Mountains west of Boulder Colorado. South Boulder Creek was predominantly frozen over with sections where the flowing water showed through the ice. I think it makes for a pretty interesting composition.
Winter Scene at White Ranch
Winter in Golden Colorado is especially wonderful after a snowstorm. On this day I took a hike up to White Ranch above the valley and I found this group of frozen trees on my way to the summit. The light was nice even though it was later in the morning. A hike becomes super fun when you come across gems like this.
Heavy Snow at Redrocks
Redrocks Park is a phenomenal hiking location when a winter storm hits the Front Range mountains of Colorado. The Redrocks and snow create a red and white wonderland that you will not find in most other parts of the world. Redrocks is truly a beautiful place especially in winter.
Traildog's Winter Fantasy
A saunter to the top of Mount Falcon with a heavy spring snow is exactly what Teig dreams about…. Luckily we got a great big snow in Colorado!
Freight Train at Coal Creek
North of Golden Colorado the coal and freight trains travel at the base of the Front Range mountains on the expedition to deliver their goods. This is one of my favorite short hikes near Coal Creek to saunter out to the mesa and watch these behemoths switch tracks, by-pass each other and slowly make their way to their destinations with Denver in the background. Who doesn’t love to watch the long trains chug along?
Traildog Scouting the Snow Covered Mountain Trail
Teig and I get excited about exploring the Front Range Mountains of Colorado after a spring snow storm. On this afternoon we were up on Mount Falcon outside of Morrison Colorado. We saunter the trails and explore nature in this serene scene. On these days there are very few others out on the trails. I highly recommend it.
Proud in the Winterscape
Teig is looking stately in the heavy snow on Mount Falcon outside of Morrison Colorado. This photo reminds me what a fantastic Traildog Teig is and how much experience he has in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. He has logged more miles than many hikers and has summited 24 Fourteeners in this beautiful state.
Winter Fun on Morrison Slide Trail
What is better than the bright sun shining on a snow covered Redrocks trail after a huge snowstorm? I think you can tell how Teig feels about that. He was enjoying the run through the snow and I was thoroughly enjoying the views of Denver towards the east. We had the whole trail to ourselves and was playing and having fun every second!
Out in the Snow Storm
Teig covered in snow on Mount Falcon outside of Morrison Colorado during a large snow storm. We love these days in the mountains of Colorado.
