Late morning view in south-western Utah's Joshua Tree National Natural Landmark. Joshua trees range from here to the Mojave desert in southern California. It is fun to be able to saunter around this beautiful area in late December.
Front Range Mountains from High Line Canal
What a beautiful view of the Colorado Rockies from the High Line Canal Trail in Englewood. As a Coloradoan, I sometimes take these gorgeous views for granted. This location is in the heart of our metropolis on an urban trail that gets well used by the city folk. Even though this trail is quite crowded in the summer it has fairly light use in the winter months and is great to capture a bit of nature in the big city.
Lone Winter Leaf
There was still some color on leaves when winter came to the High Line Canal Trail in Englewood Colorado a suburb of Denver. It is fun to find little gems like this lone leaf while sauntering a heavily used urban trail. Sometimes you just have to stop and enjoy the light.
Sloan’s Lake Resident
This guy was up in one of the trees around Sloan's Lake in Denver Colorado. He was enjoying the sun on a winter’s day.
Front Range across Sloan’s Lake
A beautiful view of the Rocky mountains across Sloan’s Lake in Denver Colorado. Viewing the snow capped peaks is one my favorite views from this lake and park.
The Denver Skyline across Sloan’s Lake
Downtown Denver's Skyscrapers across Sloan's Lake in mid-winter. This park is frequented by the public wanting to enjoy a stroll around the lake and get outside for fresh air.
Hawk Eyes on Me
A Cooper’s hawk up in a tree watching Teig and I walking along Kountz Lake at Belmar Park in Lakewood Colorado.
Traildog on Greenland Trail in Douglas County

Clear Creek Flowing under Christmas Footbridge
Clear Creek was not completely frozen over during the holidays. Beautiful Christmas lights lined the footbridge and the creek flowed towards downtown Golden and to Coors Brewery beyond.
Christmas Contemplation on Clear Creek
It is soothing to be down on Clear Creek at night during the holidays. The lights are beautiful and the sounds of the creek make a lovely chorus that helps folks forget about their concerns and focus on peace, family and friends.
Families Enjoying the Festive Clear Creek Footbridge
On a cold night, families are celebrating the holidays along Clear Creek in Golden Colorado. The bright colors on the footbridge crossing Clear Creek is one of the favorite locations to snap a photo of your loved ones.
Who is Reading Among the Holiday Lights?
I came upon this silhouette of a little girl reading her book on Clear Creek Trail in Golden Colorado during the holiday lights display. It turns out she is always there reading her book.
Golden Footbridge Holiday Lights
The city of Golden Colorado lights up Clear Creek Trail for the holidays and this is the footbridge with beautiful lights. Fog was moving into the valley before the snowstorm.
Resting Among Dinosaur Eggs
Teig taking a rest in the patch of dinosaur eggs in the Bisti Badlands of New Mexico. What better place to take a load off then rock formations that look like prehistoric eggs?
White Hill in Bisti Rock Field
A white "Mountain" in some interesting rock formations deep inside the Bisti Badlands. This area was once a riverine delta that lay just to the west of the shore of an ancient sea, the Western Interior Seaway, which covered much of New Mexico 70 million years ago.
Classic Teig at Bisti Badlands
A classic Teig pose at the beautiful Bisti Badlands in the desert Southwest. This pose is what usually occurs when I tell Teig to wait and I raise my camera up… he then proceeds to sit down and stare magnificently off into the distance. He has perfected this regal pose and uses it all the time. Models seem to have their fall back comfort pose and I believe this is his. I can’t complain because I really do love the pose and I love him too!
Petrified Log Alter
We found this petrified log on a rock pedestal in the Bisti Badlands of northern New Mexico. The log was so cool on the pedestal that it looked like it could have been alter used by the Anasazi Indians who lived in the area over 700 years ago. This wonderful surprise is why Teig and I love to explore the American West.
Boot Prints on the Badlands
Some sauntering explorer crossed the Bisti Badlands on the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. We came across these boot prints while doing some of our own exploration of this fantastic desert landscape. I wonder what interesting things they encountered on their walkabout?
