A self portrait in the dead of winter at Bear Creek Lake Park.
Storm is Coming in the Medicine Bows
Teig and I were coming down from a saunter in the backcountry of the Medicine Bow National Forest in Southern Wyoming and stopped off at South Gap Lake for a snack. The ominous storm clouds which were brewing since lunch finally engulfed us. We tried to expedite our hike back to the trailhead but were unsuccessful and the rain and hail pelted us the last mile and a half. Even though we were soaked, it was a fantastic adventure well worth the effort.
Traildog in Fog at Gross Reservoir
Teig and I were exploring the area around Gross Reservoir in the Front Range above Boulder Colorado during a rainy day in spring. The lake was quiet and we didn’t see another soul as we hiked the rocks and the beaches of the lake. These are some of my favorite times spending moments with my Colorado Traildog.
Raven in Winter above Redrocks”
Teig and I were exploring Mount Falcon outside of Morrison Colorado during a snowstorm when I captured this shot looking back to Redrocks Amphitheater. The raven in the tree was so interesting and I think he makes the composition.
Redrocks Road in a Snowstorm
Redrocks Park and Amphitheater during a good snowstorm that hit the Front Range. The red rocks look cool contrasting with the snow.
Sunset Peaking through Clouds on Tiger Key
Listening to the waves roll on to the white beach and looking up through the mangroves to see the sunset happening on Tiger Key was a fabulous moment. Everglades National Park has numerous locations to get away from Florida’s crowds and just absorb nature's beauty. Ten Thousand Islands is a prime location to experience the setting sun dip below the Gulf of Mexico.
Sauntering on Frozen Green Mountain
A cold front hit Golden Colorado and Teig and I decided to hike up Green Mountain to get a little exercise. We had a dun morning in the frigid temperatures.
Sunday Snowstorm at Home in Denver
A cold snowstorm hit Denver and Teig and I went out in it to relinquish our cabin fever. Shoveled some snow then headed to the local elementary school field to play some frisbee.
Deep Snow on Mount Falcon
A big snowstorm hit Denver and the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains leading to this beautiful winter landscape on Mount Falcon. Teig and I spent the afternoon exploring this mountain in the awesome silence that comes to the forest in a huge snowstorm.
Bird on Feeder
We were relaxing at RedRocks Trading post in Morrison Colorado watching the few bird feeders in the back during a snowstorm and this little guy flew up and started feeding. He seemed quite fearless and hungry and was picking through the seeds in the feeder finding the tasty morsels.
Teig is Enjoying the Snow
The joy of being a Colorado Traildog on a snow covered Colorado trail.
Winter Storm Engulfing Redrocks
A winter storm came into the Front Range and blanketed snow on beautiful rock formations at Redrocks outside of Denver Colorado. Sauntering the trails was a pleasure with no tourists because of these chilly conditions. As a photographer, these conditions are great and require a trip around the trails in the park.
Heavy Snow at Redrocks
Redrocks Park is a phenomenal hiking location when a winter storm hits the Front Range mountains of Colorado. The Redrocks and snow create a red and white wonderland that you will not find in most other parts of the world. Redrocks is truly a beautiful place especially in winter.
Songbirds during Snow Storm
Small birds finding a little refuge from the snow at Redrocks in Morrison Colorado.
Winter Storm at Redrocks Amphitheatre
Exploring Redrocks in Morrison colorado during a nice winter storm is always a fun adventure. Teig loves to run up the stairs at the amphitheatre when it is chilly outside. The views are amazing when the snow covers the ground at the park.
Desert Storm near Abiquiu
Nothing better than a late afternoon desert storm in northern New Mexico. If you never seen a storm with the sun shining on you in the desert southwest, you need to add it to your bucket list. This one was outside of Abiquiu and brought a smile to my face.
Taos Ski Valley Autumn Panorama
Taos Ski Valley in the Sangre de Cristo range of the Rocky Mountains during the peak aspen color run in early October. Rain and snow was moving into the Taos Ski Valley when I captured this panorama. Luckily I escaped with just a slight soaking of my clothes.
Calm in the Snow Storm
Out on the trail on Green Mountain during an early snow storm. We love having trails near Denver we can explore when weather comes in. Teig love being out in the storms and loves frolicking in the snow.
Traildog Exploring Sand Wash Basin
Sand Wash Basin is located 45 miles west of Craig, Colorado. A herd of approximately 450 wild horses freely roam this area and are protected by the BLM. Teig was up on a point, as night approached, searching the horizon for them as a western storm was coming towards us. A quick retreat to our camp was in short order.
