A view of Lake Dorothy State Park on the border of Colorado and New Mexico near sunset with a storm brewing to the west.
Teig on Boulder in Castlewood Canyon
Teig had jumped up on one of the boulders in Castlewood Canyon and was staring eye to eye with me when I came hiking down Inner Canyon Trail. He still amazes me how athletic he still is for an old dog.
Western Spires on Long Scraggy Peak
Impressive spires on the western side of Long Scraggy Peak. The view is from the Colorado Trail north of the peak.

Autumn Color on East Brush Creek
Beautiful color on East Brush Creek in Colorado's Sylvan State Park. The falls were flowing well and the location was super peaceful to sit and contemplate nature while listening to the waterfalls.
Red Rock Formations in the Nevada Desert
Islands of red rock formations can be found around the Valley of Fire. Teig and I love finding and exploring them in the evening when there are no tourists around. It also makes for fun landscape photography.
Momma Porcupine in a Tree
For the second time in as many weeks we ran into a porcupine on a trail north of Vail, Colorado. She was huge and a mamma walking toward Teig and I. She couldn't recognize us until she was about 25 feet away. Luckily, Teig was on leash at the moment and their was no altercation. I let her move to a nearby tree and climb up about eight feet before getting this photograph of her where she felt safe. She was gorgeous.
Running to White Dome
Folks were hiking White Dome Loop in the Valley of Fire Park in southern Nevada. These kids were excited to see White Dome and were running down the sandstone formation leading their parents. I remember doing the same things when I was their age when my family visited national parks... I was always super excited. to tell the truth, I am still that way today.
Brittlebrush in the Valley of Fire
Down the Trail from Boulders
Teig coming down the trail from a cool boulder formation near Sheeprock. We had fun playing in the rocks and were making our way back to camp before the dark of night.
Beautiful Evening on Sheeprock Trail
Teig sauntering on a trail after sunset with Sheeprock in the distance. We were enjoying our first night out camping in the Front Range Mountains for 2020. It is so relaxing to get a nice hike in at sunset and capture a few photos to boot!
Traildog Paws in Rocky Mountain Pond
Teig was stalking wild trout at a series of ponds in Pike National Forest near Florrisant Colorado. He patiently waits at the edge for the fish to rise and then swims out to snatch them. He is not very successful with this method. He does much better when I am flyfishing and I have a nice trout on the line... his success rate is then stellar.
Strange Formations
There are many strange and wondrous rock formations at the Bisti Badlands. When you explore the area your imagination runs free and you see so many different things in the formations. I love letting my mind spin in it’s own creativity.

Resting Among Dinosaur Eggs
Teig taking a rest in the patch of dinosaur eggs in the Bisti Badlands of New Mexico. What better place to take a load off then rock formations that look like prehistoric eggs?
Classic Teig at Bisti Badlands
A classic Teig pose at the beautiful Bisti Badlands in the desert Southwest. This pose is what usually occurs when I tell Teig to wait and I raise my camera up… he then proceeds to sit down and stare magnificently off into the distance. He has perfected this regal pose and uses it all the time. Models seem to have their fall back comfort pose and I believe this is his. I can’t complain because I really do love the pose and I love him too!
Petrified Log Alter
We found this petrified log on a rock pedestal in the Bisti Badlands of northern New Mexico. The log was so cool on the pedestal that it looked like it could have been alter used by the Anasazi Indians who lived in the area over 700 years ago. This wonderful surprise is why Teig and I love to explore the American West.
