Teig was resting on a rocky outcrop on North Table Mountain outside of Golden Colorado. I saw him sitting there a day after snow came through the area and had to capture this photo.
Hawk Silhouette at Carolyn Holmberg Preserve
I find zen with a winter evening’s stroll around Carolyn Holmberg Nature Preserve in Broomfield Colorado. There are many species of birds and mammals that occupy this open space during the winter months. Keeping your eyes open and searching the trees you will most certainly find hawks and maybe an eagle perched in the branches. On this evening there was this hawk resting high in the cottonwood tree silhouetted against the beautiful colors in the sky from the setting sun. How lucky we are to witness the wonder and beauty of nature in Colorado.
Bison Bull Roaming Rocky Mountain Arsenal
This large bison bull was roaming the Rocky Mountain Arsenal refuge outside of Denver Colorado and he just happened to saunter past me while I was photographing the bison herd. He was a big boy and moved slowly across my frame. No hurry, just stopped for a brief moment to look at me and then continued on his way.
Speed on the Trail Snow
Teig loves to run along the trail when we are exploring the Front Range in Colorado. He is running to me on Travois Trail on Centennial Cone near Golden. We spend many of our winter weekend days sauntering these trails.
Traildog Fun on Snow Day”
Teig had a fantastic afternoon playing in the snow at Belmar Park in Lakewood Colorado. I had some fun too.
Teig on the Snowy Trail at North Table Mountain
Trails are snow packed on North Table Mountain much of the time in January. Teig loves the snow and cool conditions on a sunny day in the Front Range Mountains of Colorado. Not to many hikers and the crisp cool landscape is great for exploring!
Winter Flatirons from North Table Mountain
A beautiful day hiking and exploring North Table Mountain outside of Golden Colorado. The view north to Boulder and the Flatirons was awesome with the snow covering much of the landscape. What a fantastic place to call home.
Heavy Snow at Redrocks
Redrocks Park is a phenomenal hiking location when a winter storm hits the Front Range mountains of Colorado. The Redrocks and snow create a red and white wonderland that you will not find in most other parts of the world. Redrocks is truly a beautiful place especially in winter.
Mutual Respect
When traversing the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, we inevitably will cross the path of some open range cattle. Teig does get a bit excited when he sees cows who notice him. On this day we were above Buena Vista and there were quite a few of them on the ridges feeding. This cow and her calf watched as we approached. Teig barked once then just stared at her and her calf. They pondered each other for a couple of minutes and then Teig continued on… I guess there was mutual respect and no further contact was required.
Traildog Waiting on North Table Mountain
Patience is one of Teig’s greatest strengths. He spends an enormous amount of time on the trail waiting for me as I capture photographs of our adventures and the wonderful landscapes we travel across. He is here patiently waiting for me on North Table Mountain in the middle of January… calmly watching me as I was getting a panorama of the Front Range and Golden Colorado. I love him for that!
Traildog in the Snowy Grass
Teig really enjoys the snow storms in the Front Range foothills of Colorado. I can’t help taking portraits of him in the snow. As a photographer, I can’t help creating images of subjects I love.
Songbirds during Snow Storm
Small birds finding a little refuge from the snow at Redrocks in Morrison Colorado.
Winter Storm at Redrocks Amphitheatre
Exploring Redrocks in Morrison colorado during a nice winter storm is always a fun adventure. Teig loves to run up the stairs at the amphitheatre when it is chilly outside. The views are amazing when the snow covers the ground at the park.
Sunrise on the Pawnee Grasslands
I love sunrises when we are out exploring Colorado. We witnessed this fantastic summer sunrise on the Colorado plains while camping at the Pawnee Grasslands. You just have to get out saunter through our wonderful natural areas.
Cheerful Flowers
The election is here... maybe a beautiful cheerful flower photo is in order.
La Junta Milling & Elevator
We came across this mill and elevator in the small southeast Colorado town of La Juanta. No one was was working on this day and the building was interesting. The structure was on the main thoroughfare and stood above all the other buildings.. We really love to explore these small western towns.
St. Louis Creek in the Fraser Experimental Forest
We were afforded the opportunity to relax and contemplate our existence next to this waterfall on a hike up St Louis Creek in the Vasquez Wilderness. The exploration of the Colorado Rockies help ground wayward souls. Teig and I are so very lucky to experience this wonderful life.
Autumn Colors Above Camp Hale
A 180 degree view from a few hundred feet above Camp Hale in the Eagle River Valley north of Leadville Colorado. This valley was surrounded in early Autumn color and we spent a good half day playing and exploring around Camp Hale.
Autumn Colors at Weston Pass
One of my favorite 4x4 roads is Weston Pass outside of Leadville Colorado. Coming from the Arkansas River Valley up to the top of the Mosquito Range is quite the visual experience especially when the colors are changing in fall. This view was mine late in the afternoon as I looked back towards the Collegiate Mountain Range with Big Union Creek winding down the valley.
Calm in the Snow Storm
Out on the trail on Green Mountain during an early snow storm. We love having trails near Denver we can explore when weather comes in. Teig love being out in the storms and loves frolicking in the snow.
